las vegas automotive photography – World Class Driving Las Vegas – Muscle Car Experience

The Car Photographers gets published! Here we were taken on a ride along with World Class Driving to experience the Muscle Car Driving Experience! This was probably one of the toughest photoshoots I have ever been on due to the time given to actually photograph the vehicles. Each photo took literally 1-2 minutes to crank out! I call it, Guerilla Style Shooting. This wasn’t a preplanned shoot.  The idea was to go along and just capture the experience of the cruise. All I have to say is WOW! Such a great experience! The time you spend in each vehicle is plenty and you get to drive every vehicle that comes out! Awesome! In this particular situation we were taken on a real live cruise with other clients. World Class Driving was very professional and accomodating. They even went as far as providing the trunk space of their support vehicle (a gorgeous big body Jaguar) for my photography equipment!

In regards to gear,  I brought a couple strobes with battery packs, my 5D Mark III, a 24-70L lens, and my Manfrotto tripod. The lighting crew comprised of Andrew and Newt. I was grateful in having their help in creating my composites, otherwise this shoot wouldn’t have been possible! They gladly ran around helping me light the vehicles to create my vision. Speed was the priority here as we only had moments on each stop to pull everything out, set up, take 5 minutes worth of photography, pack up and roll out! This was definitely a test of speed, composition under pressure, and technical knowledge.

Each shot literally took 2 minutes if not less. The post processing is what took some time though. It’s always a trade off in photography between how much work you put into the shot “in camera” compared to the work in post processing. In this situation I had no choice. This was a great learning experience for me and has taken my post processing to another level!

The experience was definitely a test on my flexibility as a photographer and getting the job done no matter what obstacles lay! For a shoot with no prior planning, and with literally no time to shoot during the scheduled stops on the cruise, I believe we did a great job in wingin’ this and presenting a final product that we can be proud of!
